PORTRAITS IN BLACK  - We are But Players

  NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE BLACK PORTRAITS ON HUMAN RIGHTS

This project started in April 2013 is of impasto black oil paintings showing vignettes of people now dead that I have interacted with. The portraits are painted on black screens. There are to be about a dozen pieces to include the following: Samuel Beckett, Eamon Keane, Winston Churchill, Louis MacNeice, Eric Morecambe, Tito Gobbi, Brendan Behan, Dominic Behan, Joan Sutherland, Frances Bacon, John Osborne, Luciano Pasvarotti, George Solti, Max Wall, Sean O’Casey and Count Basie. The story of the painting of Eamon Keane and Samuel Beckett and an explanation of the genesis of the Screens.
